AQRD Attends Heritage Flight Training Course

AQRD attends Heritage Flight Demonstration 2021

AQRD ATTENDS 2021 HERITAGE FLIGHT TRAINING COURSE

In early March, a team from AQRD visited Davis-Monthan Air Force base in Tucson Arizona to attend the Heritage Flight Training and Certification Course. The group included CEO Raj Narayanan, Tommy Williams, David Bedenbaugh, Jeff Boggs, and Rob Swift. AQRD was a guest of the Heritage Flight Foundation who is an AQRD client.

The Heritage Flight Foundation is an organization that provides Heritage Flight demonstrations across the country throughout the year. These demonstrations feature modern fighter and attack aircraft flying alongside historic aircraft from the World War II, Korea, and Vietnam era. To prepare for these flight demonstrations, pilots participate in the Heritage Flight Training and Certification Course at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base each year. Demonstration pilots attend this event to train with the Heritage Flight Foundation to be certified to participate in 2021 Air Shows.

AQRD Board Advisor Tommy Williams is a current pilot for the Heritage Flight organization. Tommy Williams flew multiple fighter aircraft while in the Air Force, including the F-15C, F-5E, F-4E, and F-16, and acquired over 3,800 hours of flight time. After serving active duty in the Air Force Reserve, he recently retired as a Major General serving in support of the USAF Director of Operations at Headquarters Air Force in the Pentagon. Tommy is proud to display and fly the P-51 Mustang and F-86 Sabre in Heritage Flights across the country.

ADS-B Compliant: Beechcraft Starships are ready for 2020

ADS-B Compliant: Beechcraft Starships are Ready for 2020

AQRD upgrades Beechcraft Starships to make them ADS-B compliant

Aerospace Quality Research and Development ("AQRD") has successfully developed the engineering, design, and installation needed to keep the Beechcraft Starship 2000 flying with the ADS-B 2020 mandate of compliance meeting the FAA regulations 14 CFR 91.225 and 14 CFR 91.22. The challenge in obtaining ADS-B compliance for the Starship included no available OEM support, no available support for the existing Collins AMS850 system, no cockpit panel real-estate for a panel or other mount solution, and no way to connect with the existing and no longer support Rockwell Collins AMS 850 integrated avionics processor and systems. This is a significant milestone for the Beechcraft Starship, as it will ensure that the Starship will be shared and enjoyed for decades to come. AQRD, using its in house development team and engineering expertise, developed a solution to be ADS-B IN/OUT compliant with updated cockpit technology and modern-day GPS/transponders/1090ES technology. AQRD sees this as a milestone in its development approach to engineering solutions coupled with applications engineering (on aircraft solutions). This solution not only brings ADSB out to meet the FAA NEXTGEN mandate for the Starship as a whole, but AQRD also engineered and installed technology that brings ADS-B/FISB data specifically into the Starship cockpit. This enables the starship to operate for the next 30+ years using modern and updated technology. This is a first in helping solve the continuing challenge of keeping aircraft flying into the future…

AQRD is using this method of engineering design (integration approach in partnership with select systems manufacturers) and applying it to other platforms and solutions in the commercial, corporate, and military space. AQRD will be using the operations-based design approach applying it to many of its other current and future customers challenges with fleet and aircraft sustainment and obsolescent issues. AQRD is proud to keep the Beechcraft Starship flying along with the Dassault F1 Mirage, Northrop F5 and Lockheed F16.

AQRD is a company that prides itself on innovation, quality and speed. We aim to "Keep 'EM Flying"!
